Welcome to A Place in the Galaxy
Saturday, September 04 2010 @ 11:42 PM CDT Where are the new Dork Sides? Please go to http://turningtothedorkside.blogspot.com/ for all of your Dorky goodness. Thanks! Everything is proceeding as we have forseen...It was wonderful to meet so many friends from the Star Wars community at the convention, and we have many images, films and products to remember our time there. Of course, we were also there to work - and we must thank Amira Sa'id for being such an amzing interview subject - I'll be editing the footage very soon, and preliminary viewings indicate it will be quite an interesting little documentary. In the meantime, I shall be discussing a revamp of this website with Darth Admin and the web wookiee - perhaps to open up some of the forums for fan fiction and artwork - also a place to link to your photo albums might be a good idea - I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for dropping by - the adventure is only just beginning!! Commence Primary IgnitionThank you also to those of you who have helped iron some kinks out, I believe most things on this site are working at 100% efficiency, so we have no need to call in the astromechs after all! I will be promoting the film, and this site, at C IV, so we will see a huge influx of new members at the end of May - we will also take this opportunity to present some new features, such as fan-fic and art posting, and then the production itself will kick off in July. Get ready to make the jump to lightspeed! What's new?Leah, our friend at www.Nerf-Herders-Anonymous.net has been invited to add her own designs to the TOPPS 30th Anniversary sketch card collection - congratulations, Leah! I have added some new FAQs to the general Forum, click above to read them, or head on over to Hoth to check them out - don't forget a scarf. The ever resourceful jkthunder has started a new 'introduce yourself' thread in the Hoth forums - pop in and say hello, we like to know who you are and what you do! I am hoping to travel to both Celebration 4 and Celebration Europe, I'll keep you posted as to whether this happens or not... Be a part of the film!We have several focuses for our documentary, and we are currently planning to visit several areas including New York, Texas and the UK. If you would like to be a part of the film, we are particularly interested in hearing from collectors, costumers, bloggers and military personal (active or not). Also, if you have any budding jedi younglings in your family, we will be looking for little padawans to introduce each segment in the film - let us know if your little darlings have a flair for the big screen! Many thanks for your support, feel free to leave a comment, or contact Neil at the usual address. Stirrings in the ForceA Place in the Galaxy has received a mention at www.theforce.net - thank you Mike. We will be keeping them notified about further developments in the film. One of our featured segments in the documentary will be following Amira, possibly the best known 'Leia Slave Girl' around today! She will be teaching belly dancing at C IV, and Studio Moraine will be there to record her every move. Find out more about Amira at www.amiradance.com One of our beloved bloggers, JediPrincess77, has entered the C IV talent contest with an amazing Leia-themed jazz rendition. Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqDO7UC_HTc and vote for our girl! Let the Princess win!! Studio Moraine hopes to follow her all the way to the finals! UPDATE: Thanks to The Stooge for directing me to Club Jade, who have also featured our film on their site. Cheers, Dunc! Go to www.clubjade.net to see more. Welcome!A Place in the Galaxy is a feature-length documentary examining the phenomenon of Star Wars and the nature of the fan community that has built up around it. The documentary will focus specifically on the blogging and fan site community, and will investigate the relationships between fans, their common dreams, their personal stories and how the Star Wars saga has impacted their lives. Feel free to have a look around, find out more about the film, and maybe make your own contribution in the form of a story over on Dagobah, or a post over on Hoth. Above all, have fun, and thanks for dropping by! |
